A escritora portuguesa Lídia Jorge foi distinguida, por unanimidade, com o Prémio da Latinidade "João Neves da Fontoura" 2011, anunciou a União Latina.
O Prémio da Latinidade "João Neves da Fontoura" homenageia o ex-ministro das Relações Exteriores do Brasil João Neves da Fontoura, idealizador da União Latina como organização internacional.
O júri deste ano decidiu,
quarta-feira (23), distinguir Lídia Jorge "pela consagração da sua obra
como escritora que muito tem contribuído para o enriquecimento do
património cultural e literário do Portugal contemporâneo".
Nascida em Boliqueime, no
Algarve, em 1946, Lídia Jorge licenciou-se em Filologia Românica na
Universidade de Lisboa, deu aulas, escreveu quinze livros editados em
várias línguas, entre eles romances, antologias de contos e uma peça de
teatro.
A publicação do seu primeiro
romance, em 1980, "O Dia dos Prodígios", foi considerado marcante num
período em que se tinha iniciado uma nova fase da literatura portuguesa.
Entre outros, recebeu o Grande
Prémio da Sociedade Portuguesa de Autores para romance, em 2007, pela
obra "Combateremos a Sombra".
Em edições anteriores foram premiados o cineasta Manoel de Oliveira, em 2002; o ensaísta Eduardo Lourenço, em 2003; o arquitecto Álvaro Siza Vieira, em 2004; o ex-Presidente da República Mário Soares, em 2005; a investigadora de estudos clássicos Maria Helena da Rocha Pereira, em 2006; o historiador José Mattoso, em 2007; o actor e encenador Luís Miguel Cintra, em 2008; o artista plástico Júlio Pomar, em 2009; e o arquitecto paisagista Gonçalo Ribeiro Telles, em 2010.
